Summer Camps Prepare
The Sisters of Social Service have always centered much of our  ministry work on children and teenagers, as well as their families. For over six decades we have offered our summer programs at Camp Mariastella  in Wrightwood and Camp Oliver in San Diego.  Local youth, covering a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and socio-economic support,  flock to camp to experience the adventures and contemplative space that is different from their day-to-day settings at home.  Several years ago, camp programs also began in Mexico, called “Niños al Rescate de los Valores” with programs both in Zacapu and Tacámbaro.

Each summer, the counselors and Sisters at the three camps greet several thousand children and youth here and in Mexico.  Camp offers many things-- a chance to connect with new friends, the space to reflect on their own spirituality, and a group of caring adults.  Our campers return year after year to explore the mystery they find there within a supportive, fun atmosphere.
