Ways to Give in Tough Times
The newspapers and radio remind us at every turn: we are struggling. We are struggling as a nation, as individuals, as groups of people, as Californians, as Christians, as Jews, as young people, as retired individuals, as families: we are struggling.
How do we continue to give this year?
Some of us may have to choose between charities and causes that pull at us. Some may give time and services instead of money. And in the midst of this very difficult time, new ideas may emerge — ways of giving that we have never thought about.
Below are eight ideas that we have come up with for creative giving this year.
Monthly Gifts
Maybe $60 sounds like a large gift, but what if it was spread out over 12 payments of $5 each? We’ve had more than 25 people sign up in the last year for online contributions, and many say it’s nice to be able to spread out the payments. You can log onto our website to set this up, or call the Development Office at (818) 285-3358. You choose the amount, the transfer date and what you’d like your gift to help fund.

It’s that easy. To donate now, or to give monthly, click here
Grocery Giving

If you buy groceries, you can give back to the Sisters without spending an extra dime. Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Alberson’s
and many other grocery stores will give back a percentage of their profit to their community partners. Click below on the store of your choice for more details. The next time you eat dinner at home, you’ll be helping the Sisters, with just a swipe of your card.

Vehicle Donation

Do you know someone who's ready to part with a car, boat or other vehicle? Do they want to do it simply, without the hassles of putting an ad
in the paper? Do they need a tax write off? Cars 4 Causes, a non-profit organization, is handling vehicle donations for the
Sisters of Social Service. Just call (800) 766-2273 or visit their website at
www.cars4causes.net to read more.
Circle of Friends
Let’s say you have three friends you have always wanted to introduce to the SSS community. Maybe you can’t give as much financially this
year, but you invite these people to a Community event — the popular Music Under the Stars concert series this summer at
Holy Spirit Retreat Center. The more people who know the Sisters’ work and history, the better, and we’re happy for the help in widening our circle of friends.
Also feel free to ask for extra copies of the
Social Impact newsletter to send to people who might be interested in the Sisters’ work.
Share Your Story
Many organizations highlight their supporters in their newsletters and on their websites. If you are a new or long-time supporter and would
like to tell the story of your connection to the Sisters and why you support them, we would love to share it. As always, we will never sell or share your personal information with anyone, and we won't list the nature of your support on the website. If you’d like to share your story, feel free to call us at (818) 285-3358 or e-mail
carloSSSdevelopment@gmail.com.

Team Giving
Wish you could give twice as much? Ask a friend to join you in the giving. Just tuck their gift and yours in the return envelope and write both your names on the donor portion (so we can credit you both). Or ask someone to give to the Sisters instead of buying you a gift this year for your birthday or other occasions. Their gift will be tax deductible and you will have the happiness of knowing you are helping the Sisters.
